Writings by John Newling
John Newling is one of UK’s most important conceptual artists and the first Fulbright Fellow. Writings is the comprehensive collection of the artists essays from 1995-2005.
Newling tackles themes such as ‘certainty and uncertainty’, ‘perception and cognition’, ‘transactions and agreements’, ‘currency and belief’, ‘places and sites’ and ‘systems of belief’ in 17 essays. The essays relate to many of the artist’s major work since the early 80’s.
Newling’s philosophical observations and poetic tone often turns the mundane into the extraordinary. Newling’s Writings is a like a guide for anyone who want to find the inspiration to unravel an increasingly world and understand what it is to be human.
‘Writings contains so many ideas, you can dip in and dip our and it’s always inspiring. If you’re interested in art you will learn much from Writing. But more importantly, it will help you see more in the world around you.’
